How We Do It

Tackling Development Challenges Through Innovation

Our MCLs provide essential laboratory infrastructure in resource-poor healthcare and research settings, addressing critical needs for reliable diagnostic and research applications.

Tailored to meet specific requirements, MCLs are versatile and support health services in areas heavily impacted by diseases like HIV/AIDS, TB, and malaria. We are passionate about delivering solutions that have a lasting humanitarian impact and help address pressing developmental challenges globally.

Rapid-Deployment for Critical and Clinical Research and Diagnostics

Containerised TB Laboratories

BIS has been at the forefront of developing rapid deployment Bio Safety Level 3 (BSL-3) laboratories to combat tuberculosis in resource-limited countries, addressing UN Millennium Development Goal #6. Our Containerised TB Laboratory (CTL), housed in a converted shipping container, is a cost-effective solution pioneered in Zambia in 2008.

With a 12-week manufacturing time and quick one-week on-site deployment, CTLs offer durability and mobility, supporting TB research and diagnostics in Africa and developing countries. These labs enhance epidemiological surveillance, expand diagnostic capacity, and decentralise TB testing in underdeveloped regions. Both MCL and CTL designs offer safe, efficient, and scalable platforms for large-scale testing and new diagnostic technologies in challenging environments.
